One of the most famous gold bullion programs from the Perth Mint is its Gold Australian Kangaroo. For those unfamiliar with the coin, its origins might throw some people off in searching for early versions of the coin because it began life at the Perth Mint as the Gold Australian Nugget. Silver.com currently offers 1 oz Gold Australian Kangaroo Coins for sale from any year of production in BU condition.

Coin Highlights:

  • Ships to you in an individual protective plastic flip!
  • Limited availability from each year of release!
  • Consists of One Troy ounce of .9999 fine gold.
  • Issued a face value of $100 (AUD) by the Australian government.
  • Obverse features the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II from various artists.
  • Reverse includes either the image of a Kangaroo or Gold Nugget.
  • Available from many years of issue between 1987 and 2016.
  • BU condition.

The 1 oz Gold Australian Kangaroo Coins originated at the Perth Mint in 1987 as the 1 oz Gold Australian Nugget coin. The design set on the reverse of the coins available from 1987 to 1989 featured a gold nugget. However, starting in 1990, the Perth Mint opted for the design of a kangaroo to make the coins more symbolic of the Australian nation on a global stage.

Like the Gold Chinese Panda series, the Gold Australian Kangaroos have always featured a new reverse design. Recently, those images of a kangaroo are altered on a yearly basis to give the coins enhanced collectible value. Gold Australian Kangaroo coins are available in ½ oz, ¼ oz, 1/10 oz, and 1/20 oz weights in addition to the 1 oz Gold Australian Kangaroo.

Each of these 1 oz Gold Australian Kangaroo coins is available in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, which means there are no signs of wear and tear. You may, however, notice breaks in the luster, spotted surfaces, or contact marks from the coining process.

On the reverse of each Gold Australian Kangaroo you’ll find either the image of a Gold Nugget (1987-1989 issue), or one of the many Kangaroo artworks used each year since 1990. Engravings include “Australian Kangaroo” or “Australian Nugget” above the design set, with the weight, purity, metal content, and year of issue engraved on this side as well.

The obverse of each 1 oz Gold Australian Kangaroo Coin bears one of two portraits of Queen Elizabeth II. Coins from 1987 to 1997 feature the right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II wearing her crown, necklace, and earrings as created by Raphael David Maklouf in 1985. Alternatively, post-1998 coins feature the portrait of Her Majesty from Ian Rank-Broadley.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase. Credit/debit card, PayPal, BitCoin, Ethereum, and Ripple orders are paid at the time of checkout, while paper check and bank wire orders require a credit/debit card on file to lock in your pricing while we await your payment. Please note, paper check and bank wire orders will NOT result in a charge to your card - we simple maintain the card on file while we await full payment by your selected payment method.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only ship to addresses in the United States, including APOs.
