For the first release in the Antique Silver Norse God Round series, the Anonymous Mint and Osborne Precious Metals has released a design honoring the most powerful of Norse gods: Odin. Known as the All-Father, he rules over Asgard and is the eldest of the gods.
Each of the designs in the Antique Silver Norse God Round Series is the creation of famed artist Howard David Johnson. His artwork is brought to life on these rounds courtesy of Italian master sculptor Luigi Badia, whose 3D blanks serve as the striking platform for each round. The overall series of rounds was developed by coin creator Julie Lindquist of Anonymous Mint.
On the obverse of the 1 oz Antique Silver Norse God Series Odin Round is the image of Odin, who is depicted sitting on his throne with his spear in hand. His spear is said to have never missed its mark, and is named Gungnir. Engravings include “Odin” and “All-Father.”
The reverse of each round in the Norse God Series features the common Valkyrie design that will be used throughout the program. Valkyrie were maiden warriors chosen by Odin to fly above the battlefields of mankind, and were charged with determining who lives and who dies. Engravings on this face read “Valkyrie,” “Chooser of the Slain,” and “1 ounce .999 Fine Silver.”
Anonymous Mint is the private mint behind the development of these rounds, overseen by Lindquist. Osborne Precious Metals is the production partner of Anonymous in this series, and is America’s oldest private mint facility.
