We are proud to offer high relief 1921 Peace Liberty Dollars produced by the US Mint in 1921. These precious coins are a choice pick for investors and collectors of rare American coins and come in Very Good – Very Fine condition.
There were only 1,006,473 Peace Dollars minted in 1921. All Peace Dollars that followed were updated to be flat enough for efficient stacking and easier minting because the high relief molds kept breaking from the multiple strikes required to create each coin. Thus, these coins became fairly rare quickly. Considering the fact that the Peace Dollar was designed to commemorate the end of World War I, it is especially charming that the first issue turned out to also be a limited edition.
The obverse side of the coin features Lady Liberty as designed by Anthony de Francisci. She wears a crown of sun rays, and is encircled by the word LIBERTY. She is flanked left to right with the words IN GOD WE TRUST and the mint date of 1921 is below.
The reverse side of the coin features America’s bald eagle standing attentively on a rock that bears the inscription PEACE. The sun rises at the eagle’s feet, and it is encircled with the words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, and E PLURIBUS UNUM. The eagle is flanked by the words ONE DOLLAR.
