These 1993-P ½ oz Proof Gold American Eagle coins are particularly unique for two reasons. First, it is one of the lowest mintages in the entire series, meaning there are just a few available in perfect condition. Additionally, these were the last fractional-weight Gold American Eagles struck at the Philadelphia Mint before full production of Gold American Eagles moved to the West Point Mint.

On the obverse face is Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ depiction of Lady Liberty. Created in 1907 by the Irish-born artist and sculptor, this image is credited with reviving American gold coin design and is widely considered the finest image ever to grace an American coin.

The reverse features Miley Busiek’s depiction of a family of nesting bald eagles. Her creation, which features a male and female bald eagle, along with hatchlings in a nest, is exclusive to the Gold American Eagle coin series.
