This coin was not only part of the very first production year for the America the Beautiful series, but it was also the first coin released in 2010. Hot Springs National Park is located in central Arkansas and covers just 5,550 acres of land. Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto was the first European to lay eyes on the Hot Springs, referring to the Native American meeting place as the Valley of the Vapors.

America the Beautiful is a coins series that represents all 50 states in the US, as well as the nation’s five overseas territories and the federal district. Launched in 2010, each year will feature five new coins, with the program slated to run through 2021.

The reverse side of each of these coins bears the image of a hot spring in the national park. Engravings read “Arkansas,” “Hot Springs,” and “E Pluribus Unum,” as well as the year of minting. On the obverse is the image of President George Washington in his familiar left-profile bust.

Each of the coins in this product listing is available in Mint State 69 grade, which means the full, original luster is still visible. A maximum of two blemishes may also be visible, but will be located outside the primary focal areas.

The United States Mint produces these coins at its Philadelphia and San Francisco facilities. If you have any questions for a Silver.com associate, we encourage you to contact us. We’re available on the phone at 888-989-7223, online through our live chat, and via email.
