The privately-owned New Zealand Mint now produces a number of popular bullion coin programs that are well known by investors and collectors around the globe. However, it was the Silver Fiji Taku coin that launched the mint’s global rise to popularity in the modern era. Now, you can purchase the 2012 1 oz Silver New Zealand Fiji Taku on Silver.com in perfect condition.

Coin Highlights:

  • Ships to you in a protective plastic slab.
  • 3rd annual Silver Fiji Taku.
  • Consists of one troy ounce of .999 fine silver.
  • Issued a face value of $2 and considered a legal tender coin in Fiji.
  • Graded Mint State 70 by the NGC.
  • Features the hawksbill turtle on the reverse.

All 2012 1 oz Silver New Zealand Fiji Taku coins in this product listing are considered perfect specimens. The NGC issues coins an MS70 grade only if they have their full, original mint luster and no detracting flaws of any kind.

First introduced in 2010 as the Silver Fiji Taku, this coin series didn’t take long to gain popularity and grow in diversity. By 2012, the series included a ½ oz coin with a $1 face value (Fiji), and a 5 oz coin with a $10 face value (Fiji) in addition to this 1 oz coin. As of 2014, the coin is issued with the same design features, but is struck on behalf of the island of Niue instead.

On the reverse face of all Silver Fiji Taku coins is the image of a hawksbill turtle swimming through the water. Hawksbills are a native species throughout the South Pacific, and are noted for their ornate, brightly colored shells.

The obverse face of the coins bears the image of Queen Elizabeth II. Featured in right-profile relief, Her Majesty’s effigy is surrounded by engravings denoting her name, the nation of issue, year of issue, and face value.

All New Zealand dollars (NZD) and circulation coins are produced at the Royal Canadian Mint or Royal Mint of London. The New Zealand Mint is a privately-owned facility in Auckland, and is not associated with the national government.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase. Credit/debit card, PayPal, BitCoin, Ethereum, and Ripple orders are paid at the time of checkout, while paper check and bank wire orders require a credit/debit card on file to lock in your pricing while we await your payment. Please note, paper check and bank wire orders will NOT result in a charge to your card - we simple maintain the card on file while we await full payment by your selected payment method.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only ship to addresses in the United States, including APOs.
