In the book of Genesis in the Christian bible, the humble man Noah saves his family and the creatures of the world from God’s wrath in a massive ark. • Consists of one ounce of .999 fine silver.
  • Issued a face value of 500 Drams and considered legal tender in Armenia.

Distraught with the sins of mankind, God sends a massive flood to destroy the Earth and cleanse it of mankind’s ill. Noah’s family is chosen to construct a large ark to protect two of every species of animal on the planet.

Armenia selected this tale for depiction on its sovereign silver coin because of the nation’s deep connection to Christianity. For starters, Armenia was the first republic to choose Christianity as its official state religion. Also, the ark’s resting place of Mount Ararat was historically within the borders of Armenia.

On the obverse face of the coin is the coat of arms for Armenia. The national emblem of Armenia is surrounded by engravings of the face value, year of minting, weight, metal content, and purity. The term “Republic of Armenia” is inscribed in both English and Armenian.

The reverse face of the coin bears the image of Noah’s Ark as it floats atop the flood waters. Mount Ararat is visible in the background, with the sun peeking over its highest point. In the foreground, a lone dove flies into view with an olive branch in its beak, the symbol to Noah that the flood waters were receding.

Each of the coins in this product listing is in near-perfect condition. You’ll find the full, original luster on each coin, and no more than two minor detracting flaws or contact marks visible. These coins are produced by Germany’s Geiger Edelmetalle Mint, located in Leipzig.
