Lunar Series II is a 12-coin program from the Perth Mint that features a new reverse design each year. The series strictly follows the Chinese Lunar Calendar, with reverse designs representing the given animal appearing on the Zodiac for a particular year. As such, 2015 is the Year of the Goat and the Perth Mint has three Year of the Goat designs available.
These 2015 1/2 oz Proof Colorized Silver Australian Baby Goat Coins feature a colorized finish with additional sparkle to the appearance of the baby goat. The Perth Mint has different designs for the gold and silver releases in the program, but these baby goat designs are new in and of themselves, separate from the standard gold and silver designs.
Each of these Proof Colorized Silver Australian Baby Goat coins arrives at your door in the Perth Mint’s standard black display box, with the coin encapsulated inside. The box arrives in a Baby Goat-themed shipper with full-color artwork, and includes a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
On the reverse of the 2015 1/2 oz Proof Colorized Silver Australian Baby Goat Coin is the image of a little kid, standing with its front two hooves on top of a bag containing wrapped gifts for the holidays. The bag of gifts features colorization, while the background retains its silver finish and appearance.
The obverse of each Silver Australian Baby Goat coin bears the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This design was created in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley and represents the fourth-generation depiction of Her Majesty used on commonwealth coinage since she ascended to the throne in 1952.
Perth Mint opened in 1899 as the final of three mints established by Britain’s Royal Mint. The oldest operating facility in the country, it outlasted the Sydney Mint and Melbourne Mint and continues today as a state-owned entity of Western Australian operating separate of the Royal Australian Mint.
