America’s Founding Fathers chose the bald eagle as the national emblem in 1792. These early leaders of the nation believe the eagle’s characteristics of power, longevity, and majesty, personified the collective spirit of the American people. Today, you can see the eagle in all of its glory on the 2015 1 oz Gold American Eagle Coin, complete with an MS 70 grade from the PCGS and a First Strike label. Coins with the First Strike label are those that were received by PCGS within the first 30 days of the coin’s release. This means that, because of the new dies used to strike the coins, they have finer details.

On one side of the coin is Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ image of a walking Lady Liberty. She can be seen walking toward the viewer with her hair flowing behind her, an olive branch in one hand, torch in the other, and the rising sun at her back. Sculptor Miley Busiek’s image of a family of eagles is featured on the opposite side. In that image, a male eagle returns to the nest, which is under the watchful eye of a female eagle.
The obverse side of the 2015 1 oz Gold American Eagle coin centers on Saint-Gaudens’ image of Lady Liberty. Engravings on this side include “LIBERTY” and the year of minting. On the reverse side is Busiek’s depiction of the eagle family, encircled by engravings that include “United States of America,” “E Pluribus Unum,” “In God We Trust,” and “1 Oz. Fine Gold ~ 50 Dollars.”
