This stunning silver coin features Lady Britannia in a robe gazing at Britain’s shores. Standing at attention, Britannia is holding a trident and shield and is wearing a helmet. Britannia the warrior queen first emerged at the end of the Roman Empire and is considered the watchful guardian of Britain. She has been featured on British coinage for centuries and her design is a favorite in England.

Giving this beautiful silver coin even more symbolic flavor, the coin’s obverse features the profile of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty’s profile features great attention to detail seen in her hair, crown and facial features. The silver coin also has multiple inscriptions on both the obverse and reverse including the coin’s minting year, weight, purity and face value.

  1. I liked the new textured field area on this coin for 2015. Just as shiny as 2014 model, it’s good to see changes besides the date on bullion coins. American Eagles look boring next to these and all bullion should have purity and weight on coins. This attractive beauty has a lot of eye appeal.

  2. The Royal Mint changed the background of this coin in 2015 to make it much more mottled, like the U.S. Golden Bison. In my opinion, the new design isn’t as attractive as the extremely reflective design of previous years. Should the Royal Mint decide to return to its previous design due to buyer feedback, the 2015 might be the only coin with this design, so it would suddenly be relatively rare and carry a hefty markup. So you may want to hedge your bets and buy a tube of them anyway.
