Like many other popular bullion coin programs around the world, the Niue Hawksbill coin owes its success to consistency in design and purity. Introduced in 2010, the Niue Hawksbill program has featured the same design theme for six years now, with only minor changes made over the course of time. At this moment, the 2015 1 oz Silver New Zealand $2 Niue Hawksbill is available in near-perfect condition on Silver.com from the New Zealand Mint.

Coin Highlights:

  • Ships in a protective plastic slab courtesy of the NGC.
  • 6th overall striking of the Hawksbill, and just the 2nd issued to Niue.
  • Consists of one troy ounce of .999 fine silver.
  • Bears a face value of $2 that is legal tender is Niue.
  • Graded Mint State 69 by the NGC.
  • Depicts the hawksbill turtle as it swims in the ocean.

Silver New Zealand Niue Hawksbill turtles exist as the continuation of the previous Silver Fiji Taku coin series from the mint. The original Fiji Taku was introduced in 2010 by the mint, but discontinued as a Fijian coin after the 2013 striking due to political contradictions between the two.

Starting in 2014, the coin’s design was used on the Niue Hawksbill. The island of Niue is an autonomous region linked with New Zealand. The coin’s primary design features remain the same, so it is considered a successor to the Taku, rather than a new program altogether.

Each of the 2015 1 oz Silver Niue Hawksbill coins available on Silver.com right now is a near-perfect specimen. Coins in this condition have their full, original luster, but may also feature a maximum of two minor detracting flaws.

On the obverse face, the right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II returns to the coin’s design. Originally featured on the 2010-2012 Fiji Taku, the Queen’s effigy was not used in 2013. This particular right-profile portrait was created in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley.

The reverse design of the hawksbill turtle remains the same as it has since the coin’s introduction in 2010. The only difference on this coin is the use of the word “Turtle” in place of the phrase “Fiji Taku” in the coin’s deeply-mirrored field on the reverse.

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase. Credit/debit card, PayPal, BitCoin, Ethereum, and Ripple orders are paid at the time of checkout, while paper check and bank wire orders require a credit/debit card on file to lock in your pricing while we await your payment. Please note, paper check and bank wire orders will NOT result in a charge to your card - we simple maintain the card on file while we await full payment by your selected payment method.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only ship to addresses in the United States, including APOs.
