Few coins in the world feature images that represent anything other than national pride. Official emblems and national symbols are often chosen for popular bullion and proof coin programs. In Armenian, the biblical tale of Noah’s Ark is considered an important icon for the people of the tiny Eastern European nation. Today, the 2016 10 oz Silver Armenian Noah’s Ark Coins is available on Silver.com.

In the book of Genesis of the Christian bible, God sends a devastating flood to wipe the Earth clean of the sins of mankind. After giving humans chance after chance to repent and change their ways, God is left with no option but to wipe the slate clean with a biblical flood.
Only Noah and his family are chosen to be spared, along with two of every animal on the Earth. After several weeks in the ark atop the flood waters, a single dove returns to the ship with a sign of dry land: an olive branch. All of this is captured brilliantly on the reverse of the 2016 10 oz Silver Armenian Noah’s Ark coin.
The reverse face includes the choppy flood waters that engulfed the Earth, with Noah’s Ark floating on top. The sun can be seen rising over the peak of Mount Ararat in the background, while that dove flies into the foreground holding an olive branch in its beak. Engravings on this side include the phrase “Noah’s Ark” in English and Armenian.
On the obverse is the nation’s official coat of arms. Engravings featured on this side include the coin’s weight, metal content and purity, its face value, the LEV mint mark from Geiger Edelmetalle, and the words “Republic of Armenia,” again featured in English and Armenian.
Geiger Edelmetalle is one of Germany’s oldest operating mints. It produces Silver Armenian Noah’s Ark Coins at its Leipsizer Edelmetallverarbeitungs, or GmbH, subsidiary.
