The Silver Chinese Panda is the official sovereign bullion coin of the People’s Republic of China, and has been struck on an annual basis since 1983. Today it is one of the most popular coins in the world, and has a limited mintage that helps keep demand high. The 2016 30 Gram Silver Chinese Panda is now available on Silver.com in near-perfect condition.

Coin Highlights:

  • All-new weight markings in 2016.
  • Ships in a plastic slab to protect the coin’s condition.
  • Consists of 30 Grams, or .9645 ounces, of .999 fine silver.
  • Face value of ¥30 (Yuan) is fully backed by China’s government.
  • Graded Mint State 69 by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation.
  • Designated an Early Release product.

Each of the Silver Chinese Panda coins available in this Silver.com listing are near-perfect specimens according to the NGC. Coins with an MS69 grade have their full, original mint luster and feature a maximum of two minor detracting flaws. Fortunately, these flaws are located outside the primary focal areas of the coin.

As an Early Release coin, these products had to ship to the NGC or an approved depository within the first 30 days of the release date set by the Chinese Mint. There is no stipulation on the condition upon arrival, such as arriving in sealed mint boxes.

On the obverse face of the 2016 Silver Chinese Panda is the latest panda design to feature on these brilliant coins. It depicts an adult panda at play as it crawls along the fallen trunk of a tree, with an engraving of the coin’s face value included.

The reverse shows the Temple of Heaven, from the outside, which is located in the center of Beijing. Engravings on this face include the coin’s year of issue, as well as the words “People’s Republic of China” in Mandarin Chinese.

Silver Chinese Panda coins, and their gold variants, are produced at the Chinese Mint. The Chinese Mint does not put mint marks on any of its products, making it difficult to determine where any of the panda coins are produced.
