The world’s single most popular silver bullion product, the Silver American Eagle, celebrates 30 years of production in 2016. The United States Mint strikes this popular 1 oz coin each year with its brilliant, historic design and impressive .999 fine silver purity. Today, Silver.com offers the 2016 Silver American Eagle packaged in an NGC Gem Roll as part of the First Day of Issue lineup of products.

Coin Highlights:

  • Product ships to you in an acrylic NGC tube containing 20 individual 2016 Silver American Eagles.
  • Gem Roll coins within are graded BU, or Gem, by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation.
  • Certified by the NGC as First Day of Issue products.
  • Individual coins consist of one troy ounce of .999 fine silver.
  • Each coin issued a face value of $1 (USD) by the United States government.
  • Total face value equals $20 (USD).

In this special offer from Silver.com, the 2016 Silver American Eagle is available for purchase inside an NGC Gem Roll tube. The NGC graded these coins as Brilliant Uncirculated coins, which are sometimes referred to as Gem condition as well. BU coins have no signs of wear and tear, but may exhibit breaks in the luster, spotted surfaces, or contact marks from production.

These coins qualify for the First Day of Issue designation from the NGC. In order to receive this designation and ship with a First Day of Issue label, these coins had to arrive at the NGC in mint-sealed boxes from the US Mint. Additionally, each box had to feature a postmark date identical to the official release date for the 2016 Silver American Eagle as set by the US Mint.

On the obverse face is the stunning image of Walking Liberty. Created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman, this tribute to American ideals debuted on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar that same year, remaining in circulation through 1947.

The reverse bears the heraldic eagle design. Created by then-US Mint Chief Engraver John Mercanti, the heraldic eagle is an official emblem of the US and features the bald eagle behind the national shield.
