In the Gold British Queen’s Beast Series, the Royal Mint plans to introduce a total of 10 different designs reflective of the designs from James Woodford RA. Woodford sculpted 10 beasts in six-foot tall statues that were present at Westminster Abbey in 1953 during Queen Elizabeth II’s official coronation ceremony.

The Red Dragon of Wales is depicted on the modern flag of Wales, a nation that is part of the United Kingdom of Britain, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. The Red Dragon goes back much further than the kingdom itself though. The dragon itself was originally used by Owen Tudor, grandfather of Henry VII, as a badge symbol, and the Red Dragon of Wales includes the coat of arms used by the last native Prince of Wales, Llywelyn ap Gruffudd.

On the obverse of these gold bullion coins is the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty ascended to the British throne in 1952 following the death of her father, the king. Her coronation ceremony was held in 1953 and included 10 plaster statues of Queen’s Beasts.

On the reverse of the 2017 ¼ oz Gold British Queen’s Beast Dragon Coin is the image of the Red Dragon of Wales. The dragon is often depicted holding a shield bearing a lion in each quarter of it, which was the coat of arms for Llywelyn ap Gruffudd, who was the last native Prince of Wales.

Each of the Gold British Queen’s Beast Dragon Coins listed here is in near-perfect condition. Coins with a Mint State 69 grade feature full, original mint luster and a maximum of two minor detracting flaws. The Early Release designation is a special designation for coins that arrive at the NGC for certification within a specific timeframe. The coins must arrive at the NGC or a third-party depository within the first 30 days of the release date set by the Royal Mint.

Where does your spot price come from?

We use a live, up-to-the-second spot price feed supplied by Xignite.com, a worldwide leader in the data supply market.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase. Credit/debit card, PayPal, BitCoin, Ethereum, and Ripple orders are paid at the time of checkout, while paper check and bank wire orders require a credit/debit card on file to lock in your pricing while we await your payment. Please note, paper check and bank wire orders will NOT result in a charge to your card - we simple maintain the card on file while we await full payment by your selected payment method.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only ship to addresses in the United States, including APOs.
