On the obverse of the 2017 1 oz Silver Somalian Elephant Proof Coin you’ll find the new African Elephant design. It depicts the world’s largest mammal as its stands amidst the grasses of the open plains, with a traditional hut in the background that has a lone palm tree for coverage.
The reverse of all Silver Somalian Elephant coins bears the image of the national crest for Somalia. The heraldic shield is featured with a single star at its center and a background of horizontal lines. There are leopards on either side of the shield, and the shield has two spears crossing beneath it.
All Silver Somalian Elephant Coins are products of the Bavarian State Mint, one of the major mints of the German government.
