In 2016 the numismatic world was reintroduced to the concept of Hobo Nickels, which mimicked the designs of the 1913 Buffalo Nickel’s introduction from James Earle Fraser. Spanish engraver Paolo Curcio brings this hobo art to life with the 1936 version of the Buffalo Nickel as his inspiration. Curcio’s design reflects the basic elements of Fraser’s Buffalo Nickell, but changes significant features of the Indian Head design to reflect a culture and people robbed of their history with the depiction of an Indian Skull instead.
Each of these 5 oz Antique Silver Indian Skull Rounds is available to you in antique condition, with an extremely limited mintage and a numbered Certificate of Authenticity to validate your purchase. Four more designs are planned in this collection, each of which offers a unique twist on other historic American coinage.
On the obverse of the 5 oz Antique Silver Indian Skull Round is the image of Mr. The’s Indian Skull. The haunting image of Fraser’s Native American chieftain, reimagined by Mr. The as a skeletal figure, reminds the world of the corruption and lies governments sometimes tell. Among them, telling Native American tribes that “as long as the bird flies and the river flows, this will always be your land.”
The reverse of the 5 oz Antique Silver Indian Skull Round includes the heraldic snakes of the United States. A twist on the heraldic eagle of the United States from John Mercanti, and featured on the American Silver Eagle, this design includes a grouping of snakes behind the heraldic shield of the US with the engravings “United Snakes of America” and the 13 stars arranged in a triangle.
Future designs in the United Snakes of America Series from Heads or Tales Coin Company will include adaptations of the 1804 Silver Dollar, the Continental Dollar, the 1913 Liberty Head Nickel, and the 2010 Lady Justice American Platinum Eagle.
