SPDR silver shares are on the rise, which should come as no surprise to forward-thinking investors. Also know as a Standard & Poor’s Depositary Receipt, these exchange traded funds (ETFs) are managed by State Street Global Advisors and are tracked in the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index (S&P 500). SPDRs, or “spiders”, are used by large institutions and investors to bet on the overall direction of a particular market. Since the silver market is performing so well, investing in SPDR shares is a smart choice for both the long term and short term investor.

Making the Most of SPDRs

For those who trade in SPDRs, a solidly upward trending market is an ideal investment. Competing directly with S&P 500 index funds, SPDR traders will see results by buying SPDR silver shares.

In May 2010, silver shares are still on the rise, continuing a multi-year trend that has seen the highest prices of silver in decades. Silver is still sold relatively inexpensively, yet remains one of today’s market’s best performing areas. iShares Silver Trust (SLV) is one of the best-performing stocks so far this year, climbing recently 3.3% to reach US $18.70. The S&P is trading even higher at 3.6% to 1,151 and the Dow Jones traded 3.3% higher to 10,722.

As such, SPDR silver shares are climbing each day and earning greater returns for investors, giving experts who foretold a sterling future for silver bullion more reasons to be optimistic.
