As the United States sat out the early years of World War II, Australia stood alone in the Pacific as a counter to the growing territorial holdings of Imperial Japan. The Imperial Japanese forces had expanded off the main Japanese islands to mainland Asia in both modern-day China and the Korean peninsula, as well as nabbing islands from Guam in the central Pacific to Midway and Saipan as well.

The reverse of the 1/10 oz Gold US Australian WWII Coins features a combination of American and Australian images denoting the alliance that was successful in defending Australia and pushing the Japanese back to their home islands. In the center of the design is the majestic Eagle that is perched on the Australian-American Memorial in the federal capital city of Canberra.
