In 1997, the United States Mint introduced the Platinum American Eagle Series. Like its counterparts in the Gold Eagle and Silver Eagle collections, this series started out with BU and Proof options available to investors and collectors. Unlike those other programs, the Platinum Eagle eventually suffered a downsizing that saw the elimination of fractional-ounce coins starting in 2009. However, the Proof Platinum Eagle remains a unique series within the broader American Eagle bullion collection. Today, 1/10 oz Proof Platinum American Eagles are available to you online at Silver.com in near-perfect condition.

Coin Highlights:

  • Available to ship to you inside PCGS or NGC protective plastic slabs!
  • Offered between 1997 and 2008!
  • Comes with various designs and labels!
  • Consists of One-Tenth Troy ounce of .9995 fine platinum.
  • The face value of $10 (USD) is fully backed by the US government.
  • Graded PR/PF69 by the Professional Coin Grading Service or Numismatic Guaranty Corporation.
  • On the obverse is a portrait of Liberty.
  • The reverse offers depictions of various symbols of America.
  • Please keep in mind it is possible to receive coins with the same dates, designs, and labels when you buy multiples.

While the Platinum Eagles are still offered to this day by the United States Mint, the program has not been without volatility. Introduced in 1997 with BU and Proof coins in 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz weights, all three fractional-ounce coins ceased production in 2009, with the BU program suspended entirely from 2009 to 2013 and in 2015. The most notable feature of this series is the Proof Platinum Eagle program’s use of new reverse designs each year.

All of these 1/10 oz Proof Platinum American Eagles are offered in near-perfect condition. Coins in PR/PF69 condition have full, original mint luster and a maximum of two minor detractions. Acceptable flaws at this grade include only minuscule contact marks or hairlines that are found outside the primary visual fields of the coin.

Silver.com offers these coins to you with random dates, designs, and labels possible. The date marks possible in this listing range from 1997 to 2008, with new designs offered for each date mark. All coins are chosen at random after your payment has been processed and you may get coins with the same dates, designs, and labels.

On the obverse side of Proof Platinum American Eagles is a vision of the Statue of Liberty. Designed in 1997 by John Mercanti, this visual focuses on the face of Liberty and the design has been used on the obverse of all Proof Platinum Eagles through 2017. The reverse face of 1/10 oz Proof Platinum Eagles offers a new design element each year.

We take data security very seriously. When you place an order with silver.com, your information is transmitted with the utmost SSL (secure socket layers) 256-bit protection. We also never have access to your credit/debit card details, as they are securely communicated directly to the payment processor (Authorize.net) and never retained by Silver.com. For this reason, we also don't process credit/debit card orders over the phone, as it is the least secure way to process those transactions.

In addition, all VISA and MasterCard orders undergo an additional step of user authentication - the respective Verified by VISA or MasterCard SecureCode programs. Upon completing checkout with a VISA or MasterCard credit/debit card, you may be promoted for additional details to confirm your identity and protect our customers against credit card fraud.

Finally, the data we do retain in our system, including but not limited to name, address, phone number, and order history, is never shared with or sold to any unrelated third-parties. Please review our Privacy Policy for full details on our data security measures.

Please feel welcome to call us toll free at 1(888) 989-7223 or use our Live Chat feature during normal business hours Monday through Friday, 08:00 a.m. to 06:00 p.m. CST. Alternatively, you can email us at help@silver.com and expect a response within 1 business day.

Please note, the Silver.com website accepts orders 24/7/365, so you can always lock in live product prices and make purchases outside of business hours.

Do you charge sales tax?

We are required to collect sales tax in certain states. You can review your states sales tax policy here: https://www.silver.com/taxes. You should always consult with a tax adviser for specific advice in your area.

Where does your spot price come from?

We use a live, up-to-the-second spot price feed supplied by Xignite.com, a worldwide leader in the data supply market.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase. Credit/debit card, PayPal, BitCoin, Ethereum, and Ripple orders are paid at the time of checkout, while paper check and bank wire orders require a credit/debit card on file to lock in your pricing while we await your payment. Please note, paper check and bank wire orders will NOT result in a charge to your card - we simple maintain the card on file while we await full payment by your selected payment method.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only ship to addresses in the United States, including APOs.
