Round Highlights:

  • Available to you in plastic flips, tubes of 20, or boxes of 500!
  • All-new round featuring the Aztec Calendar Stone!
  • Contains 1/2 Troy oz of .999 fine silver.
  • The Aztec Calendar Stone is depicted on the obverse.
  • Aztec emperor Cuauhtémoc features in the reverse design.

In Aztec culture, it was believed that there were five cosmological eras, with different sun deities in each one. Initially there was Tezcatlipoca, who had jaguars that devoured all the humans of this period. He was replaced by his brother Quetzalcoatl, who was followed by Tlaloc, the god of rain. The fourth god was Chalchiuhtlicue, who was loving, but whose tears caused a flood that wiped out humanity. The final era was ruled by Tonatiuh, who is believed to be featured at the center of the Aztec Calendar Stone.

The obverse of 1/2 oz Aztec Calendar Rounds features a stunning remastered version of the original Aztec Calendar Stone. The outer portion of the carving features elaborate Aztec symbols. Moving inward you’ll see a sun pointing in the four cardinal directions. Then there is a band containing signs of 20 days on the Aztec sacred calendar, known as Tonalpohualli. Inside this band are four boxes representing previous eras in Aztec history, and at the center is a depiction of the sun god Tonatiuh.

On the reverse of 1/2 oz Silver Aztec Calendar Rounds is Cuauhtémoc, the final Aztec emperor. He was in power up until 1521 when the Aztecs were vanquished by Spanish conquistadors. His name is inscribed beneath the portrait, and across the rim, you’ll see the round’s hallmarks.

These 1/2 oz Silver Aztec Calendar Rounds are delivered right to your door in new condition. If you purchase individual rounds, they are shipped in plastic flips. Orders of 20 come inside a tube, while multiples of 500 arrive in a box.
