The American bald eagle has graced countless forms of coinage in the United States. The bald eagle featured in the heraldic eagle design on the very first gold coins the United States issued. In fact, that first series of gold coins was known as the US Eagle and included denominations of $2.50, $5.00, $10.00, and $20.00.
The obverse side of 1/2 oz Silver GSM Eagle Rounds features an image of the American bald eagle. In fact, there are not one, but two eagles on this face of the round. In the background field, you will find the right-profile effigy of an eagle’s head as it gazes off toward an unseen point. The foreground includes the image of an eagle with sweeping wings.
On the reverse field of Silver GSM Eagle Rounds is a depiction of the American flag. In this design, the flag flaps gently in the breeze as the stripes and field of stars waver in the wind. The 13 stripes of the American flag represent the original colonies that broke away from Britain to form the new United States of America. The field in the upper left includes 50 stars, one for each of the modern US states.
