Goldbacks are a privately issued voluntary local currency produced from a thin layer of 24-karat gold sealed between sheets of clear polyester film. Every note contains a measured fractional amount of real gold and features detailed artwork. This format makes Goldbacks one of the few gold-based currencies designed for practical everyday use in the modern world. The program began in Utah and has steadily expanded into other states, bringing together the reliability of precious metals with the concept of daily exchange. With the introduction of the Idaho Goldback, the series adds a new denomination, and each note highlights imagery connected to the state where it is issued. Right now, 1/4 Idaho Goldback Gold Notes are available at Silver.com.

Note Highlights:

  • Arrives in protective currency sleeves or in bundles of 100 notes!
  • New Goldback denomination!
  • Smallest denomination in the series!
  • Justitia-inspired design!
  • Consists of 1/4000 troy ounce of .9999 fine gold.
  • The design features the allegory Justitia near Hells Canyon in Idaho.
  • Please note that Goldbacks are NOT US legal tender.
  • UV enhancements and other advanced security features included.

Each 1/4 Idaho Goldback Gold Note available here contains brilliant 24-karat gold layered within the note. The main artwork is displayed on the obverse, with the reverse presenting a mirrored version of the same design. Individual notes are packaged in protective currency sleeves. Orders of 100 notes ship together without sleeves and are held with a black bundle tie. Goldbacks also include multiple security features such as UV-reactive artwork, micro-printing, and unique serial numbers.

Justitia, the Roman representation of Justice, is a well-known allegorical figure symbolizing fairness and legal balance. She is often shown blindfolded to represent impartial judgment. In her hands she carries scales used to weigh the merits of each argument and a double-edged sword that represents the authority to enforce decisions. Her name comes from the Latin term justitia, meaning righteousness and justice, reflecting the idea that laws should be applied without favoritism or prejudice.

The 1/4 Idaho Goldback Gold Note design places Justitia in front of the natural landscape of Hells Canyon. Carved over millions of years by the Snake River, Hells Canyon is the deepest river gorge in North America and reaches depths of approximately 7,993 feet along the Idaho-Oregon border. On her belt, viewers will find images of the syringa and the monarch butterfly. The syringa is Idaho’s official state flower, known for its delicate white blossoms and mild fragrance. Beside it appears the monarch butterfly, which became the state insect of Idaho in 1992.

We also never have access to your credit/debit card details, as they are securely communicated directly to the payment processor (Authorize.net) and never retained by Silver.com. For this reason, we also don't process credit/debit card orders over the phone, as it is the least secure way to process those transactions.

In addition, all VISA and MasterCard orders undergo an additional step of user authentication - the respective Verified by VISA or MasterCard SecureCode programs. Upon completing checkout with a VISA or MasterCard credit/debit card, you may be promoted for additional details to confirm your identity and protect our customers against credit card fraud.

Where does your spot price come from?

We use a live, up-to-the-second spot price feed supplied by Xignite.com, a worldwide leader in the data supply market.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase. Credit/debit card, PayPal, BitCoin, Ethereum, and Ripple orders are paid at the time of checkout, while paper check and bank wire orders require a credit/debit card on file to lock in your pricing while we await your payment. Please note, paper check and bank wire orders will NOT result in a charge to your card - we simple maintain the card on file while we await full payment by your selected payment method.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only ship to addresses in the United States, including APOs.
