Many of America’s historic coin designs have been refined and reborn on modern coinage or collectible silver for sale. One such example is the stunning Walking Liberty design created by Adolph A. Weinman. In circulation on the half-dollar coin from 191 to 1947, this design was a vision of hope for the nation’s future. Walking Liberty first appeared in 1916 on the obverse face of the half-dollar coin. It would remain in production at the United States Mint until 1947 when it was replaced by an effigy of Benjamin Franklin and would eventually be removed from circulation in the years to follow. It has long been a favorite design of coin collectors though.
Today, the Walking Liberty image features prominently on the Silver American Eagle coin from the United States Mint. The official silver bullion coin of the nation, the Silver Eagle features only the obverse of Walking Liberty from the original coin.
All of the ¼ oz GSM Silver Walking Liberty Rounds available here today ship to you inside of protective capsules for individually purchased rounds, or inside of tubes containing 20 rounds for bulk purchases.
On the obverse of all GSM Silver Walking Liberty Rounds is the image of Walking Liberty created more than 100 years ago by Adolph A. Weinman. This depiction of Liberty captures her full-length figure as she strides toward the sun on the horizon. She wears the American flag draped over her shoulders and holds oak and laurel branches in her left arm as a sign of America’s civil and military glory. Her right hand is outstretched toward the horizon as she seeks a brighter future.
The reverse of the ¼ oz GSM Silver Walking Liberty Round includes Weinman’s original reverse design from the Walking Liberty Half Dollar. This eagle is set perched on a mountain’s edge where a young mountain pine sapling splits the rock and grows out to the side. The eagle’s wings are unfolded behind it ready to lift the bird into flight at a moment’s notice.
