The new Bitcoin Icon Rounds feature an impressive and detailed design on the reverse. Known as the Crypto Icon, this design includes numerous emblems that represent digital currencies, mining, e-commerce, security, and peer-to-peer payments. For example, the presence of cloud symbols reflects the virtual nature of Bitcoin and other virtual currencies.
Bitcoin, and other crypto currencies, exist in a virtual world outside the regulation of central banks and governments. Issued anonymously, the money cannot be controlled by regulators. Instead, a system of computers around the globe controls the release of Bitcoin and monitors all transactions in Bitcoin using a system known as blockchain.
Like any other investment, Bitcoin has a value that can fluctuate with market conditions. Although it’s a currency, Bitcoin has become more of an investment than a form of payment. When prices skyrocketed to $19,000 USD for 1 Bitcoin, people were using second mortgages on homes just to get in on the craze.
On the obverse of the 1 oz Copper Bitcoin Icon Round is the image of Bitcoin’s monetary symbol. This design is a capital letter “B” with two vertical lines struck through it. As a virtual currency, there is no means of holding Bitcoin in your hand other than through commemorative copper and silver rounds such as these from Anonymous Mint.
The reverse of Copper Bitcoin Icon Rounds includes the new Crypto Icon design. As mentioned above, those images reflect factors that contribute to crypto currency’s existence. The “mining” of Bitcoin is represented by a pickaxe, while the peer-to-peer payment nature of the currency is represented by a piggybank and shopping cart.
Anonymous Mint is one of America’s sharpest private mints. A small operation, Anonymous focuses on low-mintage, inspiring designs that are available for a limited time and when they’re gone, they’re gone for good.
