Odin is the father god in Norse mythology and was said to ride over the battlefields of mankind, determining who lived and who died, and ultimately which side would be successful in the battle. As he rode over these battles, Odin’s mount was an eight-legged horse that was the swiftest animal in the world.

The obverse of 1 oz Copper Nordic Creatures Odin’s Steed Sleipner Rounds features the image of Odin riding the powerful steed. Sleipner is said to have come to Odin through Loki. Sleipner has the speed and power to not only run like the wind over land, but also the sea and sky. In this design, Odin rides confidently on the eight-legged steed as his trusted ravens, Hugin and Munin, fly along by his side.

On the reverse face of Copper Nordic Creatures Odin’s Steed Sleipner Rounds is an image of The World Tree. The holiest site in Norse mythology, the gods of the realm would gather here on a daily basis and debate amongst themselves what actions would be considered just and which ones unjust. The roots of this tree were said to cover the three major realms of the world, while its branches extended all the way to heaven.
