Copper rounds are available as an affordable alternative to major precious metals. Copper bullion products are available at prices that are just a fraction of gold, silver, and platinum bullion products. Copper is a relatively new bullion option as it has largely been used throughout modern history as a commodity. For example, copper is used in water pipe manufacturing and electrical wiring among its many uses.
The Buffalo Nickel design replicated on these 1 oz copper rounds was designed by James Earle Fraser. The design created by Fraser was inspired by his life growing up on the plains of the Upper Midwest. A native of Minnesota, Fraser followed his father around through Minnesota and the Dakotas. Fraser’s father was an employee of the local railways and the designs on the Buffalo Nickel captured the spirit of the frontier.
The obverse side of 1 oz Copper SilverTowne Buffalo Rounds includes an image of a Native American figure in right-profile relief. Fraser developed this bust of a native figure by combining the facial features of three real-life indigenous figures living during the early 20th century. He never revealed exactly who those three figures were.
On the reverse of the 1 oz Copper SilverTowne Buffalo Rounds is the American bison, the largest land mammal on the North American continent. The bison is popularly known as the buffalo in the United States and this design was inspired by a resident buffalo at the Central Park Zoo in New York City. Known as Black Diamond, that bison’s figure is shown here in left-profile relief on a small mound of dirt.
