The cycle repeats itself every 12 years with the Year of the Rat representing the first of the 12 animals in the cycle. Other animals in the cycle include the ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat monkey, rooster, dog, and pig.
Rats are believed to be quick-witted, resourceful, versatile, and kind. For those born under the sign of the rat, Chinese cultural beliefs suggest that those individuals share many of these same personality traits.
