The Platinum Eagle from the United States Mint is a beautiful series that offers bullion and proof coins for precious metal enthusiasts. The proof coins have new designs on the reverse, and more recently obverse, every year, while the bullion coins offer a steady design element on both sides in each year. The 1 oz Platinum American Eagle Coin is now available to you for purchase online at Silver.com.

Platinum American Eagle coins were introduced by the United States Mint in 1997. Right away, the series featured bullion and proof options to attract both investors and collectors. The series initially offered four weights from 1997 to 2008 that included 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz options. Since 2009 for the proof and 2014 for the bullion coins, only 1 oz platinum coins have been available.

The bullion coins were suspended for the 2009-2013 issue years, while the proof coins continued during this period with only the 1 oz coin. The bullion Platinum Eagle was offered in 2014, not in 2015, and has been issued in low figures since 2016. The most common date mark is the 1998 coin which had a mintage of 133,002, while one of the hardest coins to find may be the 2006 coin, which though newer had the lowest mintage figure in the series at just 6,000 total.

On the obverse Platinum American Eagle coins is a vision of the Statue of Liberty. Created by former US Mint Chief Engraver John Mercanti, this design focuses on the face of Lady Liberty. The reverse of 1 oz Platinum American Eagles includes the design of an American bald eagle in flight over the continent.

These 1 oz Platinum American Eagle coins are available to you in perfect condition from the PCGS. Coins with a Mint State 70 certification showcase full, original mint luster with no detracting flaws. This is a random year allotment, which means your coins are chosen at random once your payment is processed. We cannot guarantee the date mark or select multiple coins with different date marks if you buy more than one coin.
