Introduced in 1967, the Gold Krugerrand remains one of the most visible and popular specimens in the gold bullion market. The 1 oz gold coin in the series is the longest-running weight and, when first issued, was available both as a BU and Proof specimen. Today, 1 oz Proof Gold South African Krugerrands in perfect condition are available to you online at Silver.com.

Coin Highlights:

  • Available to ship to you in a PCGS or NGC protective plastic slab!
  • Issued from 1967!
  • Availability of certified perfect coins is limited!
  • Consists of One Troy ounce of actual gold content.
  • Bears a Grade of PF70 or PR70 from the Professional Coin Grading Service or Numismatic Guaranty Corporation.
  • The obverse side depicts Paul Kruger.
  • On the reverse is a Springbok antelope.
  • Please remember you may receive coins with matching dates and label when you buy more than one.

Gold Krugerrands are so-named as a combination of the national currency of South Africa and the effigy of the former president on the obverse. Paul Kruger was the first president for the South African Republic founded in the late-19th century. His last name was combined with Rand, the official currency of the modern nation, to create the name for the modern gold bullion series.

All of the 1 oz Proof Gold South African Krugerrands listed here at Silver.com are perfect proof specimens. Coins with a PF70 or PR70 grade have full, original mint luster and present with no detracting flaws of any kind on the designs or surface areas. The coins listed here come with the potential for additional labels in the slab and no guarantee on which grading house issued the PF70/PR70 grades.

Silver.com selects your coins at random once your payment is processed. We will select coins to fulfill your order based on availability at that point in time. We cannot promise a particular date or label in advance. Please remember that buying more than one coin can result in receiving matching coins.

The obverse side of Proof Gold South African Krugerrands features a left-profile portrait of Paul Kruger. This design was modified in 1984 and has been in use on the coins since 1967 when the series debuted. The inscriptions on this face of the coin feature both English and Afrikaans text.

On the reverse face of 1 oz Proof Gold Krugerrands is the Springbok antelope. The Springbok is a medium-sized species of antelope with three identifiable subspecies. The Springbok can run at speeds of up to 55 MPH and through a maneuver known as pronking, it can use multiple leaps in quick succession to jump as high as 6 1/2 feet off the ground.

We also never have access to your credit/debit card details, as they are securely communicated directly to the payment processor (Authorize.net) and never retained by Silver.com. For this reason, we also don't process credit/debit card orders over the phone, as it is the least secure way to process those transactions.

Do you charge sales tax?

We are required to collect sales tax in certain states. You can review your states sales tax policy here: https://www.silver.com/taxes. You should always consult with a tax adviser for specific advice in your area.

Where does your spot price come from?

We use a live, up-to-the-second spot price feed supplied by Xignite.com, a worldwide leader in the data supply market.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase. Credit/debit card, PayPal, BitCoin, Ethereum, and Ripple orders are paid at the time of checkout, while paper check and bank wire orders require a credit/debit card on file to lock in your pricing while we await your payment. Please note, paper check and bank wire orders will NOT result in a charge to your card - we simple maintain the card on file while we await full payment by your selected payment method.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only ship to addresses in the United States, including APOs.
