The Ivy and Laurel releases in the Alphonse Much Collection of silver rounds from Anonymous Mint are unique in that they’re the only two of the series connected to one another historically. Ivy and Laurel are two of the six designs planned for release in the Mucha Collection from Anonymous Mint.
Both pieces of poster art were created by Alphonse Mucha in the early 20th century, and were designed for the famed dancer Lygie. It is believed that Mucha actually used Lygie as the inspiration for both his Ivy and Laurel designs.
All 1 oz Proof Silver Mucha Collection Ivy Rounds listed here have a mirrored, clear finish to the background field and edge lettering with the individual serial number of each round. The rounds ship inside of protective plastic capsules, and the edge lettered serial number matches that found on the serialized Certificate of Authenticity included with purchase.
The reverse of all Mucha Collection Silver Rounds includes a headshot portrait of Mucha taken from a real-life photograph of the Czech artist during the height of his works in the Art Nouveau period, from 1890 to 1910. Engravings include his name, year of birth and death, and the round’s weight, purity, and metal content.
On the obverse of all 1 oz Proof Silver Mucha Collection Ivy Rounds is the image of a woman’s portrait in right-profile relief. Known as Ivy, Mucha designed this in 1901 on an artistic poster for the dancer Lygie. Ivy features beautiful, flowing hair on her head that is intertwined with ivy and a background motif of arrows and flowers.
