Proof Gold Libertad coins debuted in 1983 at the Mexican Mint, but that year saw just 88 of the 1 oz gold coins struck and sold. The next release of a Proof Gold Libertad came in 1989 when only a 1/2 oz gold coin was issued with 704 coins sold. In 2004, the series took a step closer to becoming an annual series with the release of 1,000 1/4 oz gold coins.

In 2005, the Mexican Mint issued 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/10 oz, and 1/20 oz gold coins in the Proof Gold Libertad Series. These five coins have been issued each year since 2005 with the exception of 2012. In 2018, the 1 oz and 1/2 oz coins gained a reverse proof gold option with low mintages.

On the obverse side of 1 oz Reverse Proof Gold Mexican Libertads, you will find a depiction of Winged Victory. The image of Winged Victory has appeared on the Silver Libertad and Gold Libertad since the 1980s when the programs debuted and was previously used on the gold Centenario coin.

The reverse face of 1 oz Reverse Proof Gold Mexican Libertads comes with a depiction of the Mexican coat of arms. The seal features a Mexican golden eagle on a cactus branch with the nation of issue above. Around the design field, you will notice there are 10 different designs of the same seal that were previously used by the nation as the official emblem.

These 1 oz Reverse Proof Gold Mexican Libertads are available to you from random years of issue. All coins have the same designs on the obverse and reverse, with reverse proof visuals that include mirrored elements and frosted fields.
