The Perth Mint is famous for its many different silver bullion and collectible proof series, but few are as popular as its mainline native wildlife collections. Started in 1990 with the Silver Kookaburra, these annual releases now feature the Silver Koala, Silver Wedge Tail Eagle, Silver Kangaroo, and Silver Emu. The Silver Australian Koala was the second of these many beautiful collections to arrive. Today, 1 oz Silver Australian Koalas in perfect condition are available to you online at Silver.com.

Coin Highlights:

  • Available to you with a protective plastic slab courtesy of the NGC!
  • Produced annually as of 2007!
  • Availability of certified perfect coins is limited!
  • Consists of One Troy ounce of .999 or .9999 fine silver.
  • The face value of $1 (AUD) is fully backed by the Australian government.
  • Graded Mint State 70 by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation.
  • Queen Elizabeth II features on the obverse in one of two portraits.
  • Koalas are shown on the reverse of the coins in a new design each year.
  • Please keep in mind it is possible to receive coins with matching dates and designs when buying more than one.

The Perth Mint started the concept of using native, endemic wildlife species on annual-release silver bullion coins in 1990. This year saw the mint shift the Gold Australian Nugget Series to become the Gold Australian Kangaroo bullion series and brought with it the introduction of the Silver Australian Kookaburra. More than a decade later in 2007, the mint expanded to include the Silver Australian Koala.

All of the 1 oz Silver Australian Koalas in this product listing earned Mint State 70 certifications. The NGC assigns an MS70 certification to coins that have full, original mint luster and present with no detracting flaws of any kind on the design elements or surface areas of the coin.

This listing from Silver.com offers 1 oz Silver Koalas chosen at random. We select your coins once your payment has been processed. Please note that the coins have new designs on the reverse each year. We cannot guarantee the date mark and design of the coin you receive, or whether or not it features additional labels. Coins struck from 2007 to 2017 have .999 fine silver content, while all those from 2018 onward have .9999 fine silver content. If you buy multiples, you may get coins that match for the date, design, purity, and additional labels.

Queen Elizabeth II has featured on the obverse of the 1 oz Silver Australian Koala in one of two designs since 2007. The first 10 years of release (2007-2017) saw the use of the Ian Rank-Broadley depiction of the Queen on the coins. Those coins issued since 2018 have the Jody Clark bust of Queen Elizabeth II.

Koalas are shown on the reverse of the 1 oz Silver Australian Koalas each year. The Perth Mint always offers a new design of the koala on the reverse, at times alternating between showing just one koala and showing two adults or a mother and its joey.

We also never have access to your credit/debit card details, as they are securely communicated directly to the payment processor (Authorize.net) and never retained by Silver.com. For this reason, we also don't process credit/debit card orders over the phone, as it is the least secure way to process those transactions.

Where does your spot price come from?

We use a live, up-to-the-second spot price feed supplied by Xignite.com, a worldwide leader in the data supply market.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase. Credit/debit card, PayPal, BitCoin, Ethereum, and Ripple orders are paid at the time of checkout, while paper check and bank wire orders require a credit/debit card on file to lock in your pricing while we await your payment. Please note, paper check and bank wire orders will NOT result in a charge to your card - we simple maintain the card on file while we await full payment by your selected payment method.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only ship to addresses in the United States, including APOs.
