The use of crucifixion was a crude, yet powerful, piece of symbolism meant to instill fear in the masses and cement the authority of the ruling elite. The Roman Empire was perhaps the most frequent user of this form of torture and death, applying it liberally around the globe and most famously in the case of Jesus Christ. Right now, 1 oz Silver Crucifixion Shield Rounds from the Golden State Mint (GSM) are available to purchase online at Silver.com.

Round Highlights:

  • Ships to you in a protective flip or a tube of 20 rounds!
  • The most humble design released in the Silver Shield Collection!
  • Consists of One Troy ounce of .999 fine silver.
  • Obverse features an image of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
  • On the reverse is the Silver Shield design.
  • May be any year of issue.

Each of the 1 oz Silver Crucifixion Shield Rounds available to purchase today represents another stunning design in the Silver Shield Collection of rounds from Golden State Mint. The rounds are available to you when buying silver in individual plastic flips or in tubes of 20 for purchases of multiple rounds.

Crucifixion is a particularly brutal form of torture. The body is nailed to a cross, with each hand set out to a side with a nail through the palm. The body is “supported” by a nail that is drive through both feet at the bottom of the cross. While this seems like enough brutality to end in death, the actual cause of death for most on the cross was exposure and suffocation as the individual fails in the long term to support their body weight and can no longer keep the body up enough for the lungs to breath.

On the obverse of the 1 oz Silver Crucifixion Shield Round is the image of Jesus Christ dying on the cross. There is an engraving around his figure of the initials “INRI,” which translates from Latin to read “Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews.” His appearance on a silver piece is poignant due to the fact he was ultimately betrayed by Judas Iscariot for a sum equivalent to 15 ounces of silver.

The reverse of all Silver Crucifixion Shield Rounds includes the common sword design. In it, a sword is set on its point in the center of the design field with an ornate background surrounding it. Around the outer edges, you’ll find flames and engravings of “Silver Shield” and “1 Troy Ounce .999 Pure AG.”

Where does your spot price come from?

We use a live, up-to-the-second spot price feed supplied by Xignite.com, a worldwide leader in the data supply market.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase. Credit/debit card, PayPal, BitCoin, Ethereum, and Ripple orders are paid at the time of checkout, while paper check and bank wire orders require a credit/debit card on file to lock in your pricing while we await your payment. Please note, paper check and bank wire orders will NOT result in a charge to your card - we simple maintain the card on file while we await full payment by your selected payment method.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only ship to addresses in the United States, including APOs.
