Popularized in Marvel Comics with the character known as The Punisher, the Deuce Four Skull has become a favorite of select military units in the United States Armed Forces. Though it is more broadly recognized in the modern era, similar skull designs were a part of unofficial unit insignia in the United States Military dating back to the regiments of the Continental Army during the American Revolution. Today, 1 oz Silver Deuce Four Skull Rounds with the Type II design are available to you online at Silver.com.

The use of a similar skull to that of the Deuce Four design in the United States dates to the colonial era when Revolutionary War military regiments would use skulls in unit insignia, though it was done without authorization. Fast-forward more than two centuries, and American military forces fighting in Operation Iraqi Freedom would leave the Deuce Four Skull as a calling card to warn enemy combatants. When members of the US Army’s 24th Regiment would eliminate enemy combatants in a building, the Deuce Four Skull with a “24” in the skull would be spray-painted onto the building as a sign to the enemy.
All of these 1 oz Silver Deuce Four Skull Rounds combine modern military themes with Revolutionary-era designs for a new Type II release. These rounds are available individually in plastic flips or in multiples of 20 with tubes. Each round has a reeded edge and is available in Brilliant Uncirculated condition.
For the new obverse design of the 1 oz Silver Deuce Four Skull Round, the Intaglio Mint mixes the modern skull with M-16 assault rifles and countless themes from colonial America. This includes a Roman numeral “III” on the skull, denoting the popular belief that just 3% of the colonial population actively served in the Continental Army during the war. There are two sets of 13 stars on this face of the round: one set on the skull in a tight circle and the other around the inner circle of the design element.
The popular snake from the Gadsden flag is featured below the skull and assault rifles with “Est. 1776” inscribed below. Around the outer edge of the round design field, you will find an inscription of “When Injustice Becomes Law, Resistance Becomes Duty.”
In the reverse design, 1 oz Silver Deuce Four Skull Rounds feature the image of the Intaglio Mint logo at the center. This is backed by a new twisting radial line design in the background with the weight, purity, and metal content inscribed on the outer rim of the design field.
