Silver precious metal products from private mints are increasingly popular right now, for a variety of reasons. First and foremost, many of their products are more readily available than some sovereign mint coin programs. Those coins, and in some cases bars, have limited mintage figures.
In the case of silver bullion and proof coins, the complex production methods and intricate designs create another difficulty for some investors: affordability. Suns of Liberty Mint products are made through simplified processes and have simple, yet brilliant designs that allow them to sell their silver precious metals for much lower premiums over the spot price of silver.
On the obverse of this silver square you’ll find the image of the sun, complete with wavy rays of brightness anchoring the middle of the silver product. Above it is the engraving of “Suns of Liberty Mint.” Below it is the engraving of “Trust in Yourself” and the year of issue as “2016.”
The reverse of the 1 oz Standard Finish Silver Suns of Liberty Square features a large number “1” in the center of the design. Engravings on this face include the mint’s shorthand name as “SOLM,” “.999 Fine Silver,” and “Troy Oz.” below the design. Peeking out from behind the numeral image are some rays of sun.
Suns of Liberty Mint was founded in 2011 by Dave Breger, who started by hand cutting and stamping all of the silver squares produced by his fledgling company. A veteran of the US Army Special Forces, Breger now operates a mint with an industrial manufacturing facility in Mount Holly Springs, Pennsylvania. All SOLM products are 100% Made in the USA.
