These new 1 oz Silver Suns of Liberty Squares are part of the mints own branded silver squares. The first release in this set was a 1/4 oz silver square with a similar design, which is known as the “Quarter Sun,” a nod to its design, mint lineup name, and its total weight. This square round is known simply as the Sun, and features a different mint design than its Quarter Sun counterpart.
On the obverse of this silver square you’ll find the image of the sun, complete with wavy rays of brightness anchoring the middle of the silver product. Above it is the engraving of “Suns of Liberty Mint.” Below it is the engraving of “Trust in Yourself” and the year of issue as “2016.”
The reverse of the 1 oz Silver Suns of Liberty Square features a large number “1” in the center of the design. Engravings on this face include the mint’s shorthand name as “SOLM,” “.999 Fine Silver,” and “Troy Oz.” below the design. Peeking out from behind the numeral image are some rays of sun.
Suns of Liberty Mint is a truly unique production facility unlike any other in the United States. The mint’s operations began with hand-stamped and hand-engraved pieces made in the apartment of Dave Breger and the garage of his neighbor. Breger is a former US Army Green Beret and a decorated veteran of the War on Terror. The mint operates from a facility in Mount Holly Springs, Pennsylvania.
