Gold guilders date to the early 19th century. In 1818, the first denominations in the Gold Guilder were produced by the Royal Dutch Mint in Utrecht. The coins were initially struck from 1818 to 1853 and then reintroduced in 1875. Most of the Gold Guilders issued from 1875 to 1933 featured the effigy of the same person: Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands. She reigned from 1890 to 1948, longer than any other Dutch monarch in history.
