When the nation’s longest running coin series, the Gold Liberty Eagle, ended in 1907, it was replaced by the $10 Gold Indian Eagle design. Both coins featured the same face value and gold content, but the Gold Indian Eagle featured brand new design sets on both the obverse and reverse that helped it stand apart from its predecessor. Today, the $10 Gold Indian Eagle is available for purchase on Silver.com.

The $10 Gold Indian Eagle was an extremely popular coin during its production period because of its convenient size and denomination. These coins are difficult to find in the modern era because of the actions of the federal government during the Great Depression.
In an effort to bolster national treasury resources, President Franklin D. Roosevelt order the collection and melting of all gold coins in 1933. Those coins that survived the collection and subsequent meltdown have immense collectible value today.
On the obverse side of $10 Gold Indian Eagle coins is the image of Lady Liberty wearing what is known as a war bonnet. The image is similar to that of a Native American chieftain’s headdress, and earned Liberty the name “Lady Indian” on these coins. Her image is surrounded by the year of minting and 13 stars, representing America’s original colonies.
The reverse side of the coins features a bald eagle sitting atop a cluster of arrows. Indicative of the nation’s readiness for war, the arrows are wrapped in an olive branch, symbolic of the country’s desire for peace at the same time.
Each $10 Gold Indian Eagle in this product listing is available in Very Fine condition. Coins with this grade have light to medium wear visible on the surface and the minor features. Major design features of the coin are still very sharp in detail.
