After overcoming a shortage in silver supplies on the global stage in 2015, Asahi Refining is ready to release its lineup of silver and gold bars in the preferred 1 oz and 10 oz weights. The first of these bars are available today from, with this product listing featuring the 10 oz Silver Asahi Refining Bar.

Bar Highlights:

  • The first 1,000 bars produced, Serial #s 1-1000!
  • Ships to you in sealed individual plastic to protect each bar.
  • Consist of ten troy ounces of .999 fine silver.
  • Asahi Refining logo on the reverse.

Investors prefer the one troy ounce and ten troy ounce silver bar because of its affordable pricing point, ease of storage, and ease of portability. While Asahi Refining was able to release 100 oz and 1 Kilogram bars immediately following its acquisition of Johnson Matthey facilities, it was derailed in its effort to release these popular sizes.

Silver shortages in 2015 led to a delay in the production of Asahi Refining one ounce and ten ounce bars. Each of the bars available in this listing comes from the first release of 1,000 ten troy ounce bars.

On the reverse of each you’ll find the Asahi Refining logo at the top. It consists of the words “Asahi SLC” in the outer rim of the oval design, and the bar’s purity in the center as “999.” At the bottom of the bar is an individual serial number for the bar, identifying it as one of the first 1,000 releases.

There are no markings or other engravings on the obverse face of the bar. You’ll notice the bar has a rough, matte finish. These products are produced at Asahi Refining’s North American operations centers.

Asahi Refining purchased Johnson Matthey’s gold and silver refining operations in December 2014 for a figure around $162 million (USD). This gave Asahi control of two refining centers, in Salt Lake City, Utah and Brampton, Ontario, as well as a third non-refining location in St. Catharines, Canada.
