In 1977, the Mexican Mint released the 100 Peso Silver Coins as the first-ever coin of this denomination in the nation’s long history. The coins were released at a time when silver prices were on the rise. The US Mint, for example, had recently abandoned silver in its circulation coins in 1965. The 100 Peso Silver Coin was released for just three years in all from 1977 to 1979. Many of these specimens are no longer available as the coins were melted for the silver content after production ended in 1979.
All of these 100 Peso Silver Mexican Coins are available to you with protective plastic flips. These coins are in About Uncirculated condition with only slight signs of wear on the highest reliefs. A “plus” notation means the coins are among the most visually brilliant AU coins. The only available date marks in this listing come from 1977 to 1979 as the coins were replaced by a base metal version after the 1970s.

Though he did not gain major victories in battle, his efforts to organize the war effort and lead the foundation of the Congress of Anahuac gained him notoriety. The bust of Morelos is accompanied by inscriptions of “Cien Pesos,” “OM,” and “Plata Pura 20 Gr Ley .720.” The date mark is also noted on this side of the coin.
Mexico’s coat of arms if featured in the reverse design of 100 Peso Silver Mexican Coins. In this design, a Mexican golden eagle is featured on a cactus branch battling a stylized serpent. An inscription above the seal in Spanish reads “Estados Unidos Mexicanos.”
