The United States Mint issues the Gold American Eagle coins in three different options each year. The first of these offered were the 1 oz gold bullion and proof coins in 1986. The proof coins continued with three more weights in 1987 and 1988, with a burnished coin added in 2006. The 1.5 oz 2-Coin Proof Gold American Eagle Sets are available to you for purchase online today at Silver.com with random dates.

Coin Highlights:

  • Coin set ships to you inside of US Mint commemorative boxes with an included Certificate of Authenticity!
  • Random dates available!
  • Features 1 oz and 1/2 oz coins!
  • Consists of a total of One-and-a-half Troy ounces of actual gold.
  • Issued a total face value of $75 (USD) by the United States.
  • Lady liberty from Augustus Saint-Gaudens on the obverse.
  • American bald eagles feature on the reverse.
  • Random date marks available and you could receive several with the same dates if you buy multiples.

Proof Gold American Eagle coins feature the same design elements of the bullion and burnished coins in the series. However, the proof coins are set apart visually from the other issues in the Gold Eagle collection by the presence of frosted design elements that overlay mirrored background fields. This contrast helps to separate the two visually when looking at the coin.

2-Coin Proof Gold American Eagle Coin Sets are issued with low availability from the United States Mint. In this random date listing, the biggest differences you’ll notice include the date marks on the 1 oz and 1/2 oz coins and the potential mint marks. Proof Gold Eagle 1 oz coins have always been issued by the West Point Mint with a “W” mint mark.

However, 1/2 oz Proof Gold Eagles originally featured a “P” mint mark from the Philadelphia Mint. 1/2 oz Proof Gold American Eagles have the “P” mint mark on coins dated 1987 to 1993, while all Proof Gold Eagles have the “W” mint mark from 1994 onward.

On the obverse side of 1.5 oz 2-Coin Proof Gold American Eagle Coins is the image of Lady Liberty from Augustus Saint-Gaudens. This image was created in 1907 and features Liberty in front-facing relief with 50 stars around her figure, a torch in one hand, and an olive branch in the other.

The reverse of all Proof Gold American Eagle Coins featured in the 2-coin set have the American bald eagle design from Miley Busiek. Created in 1986, the design features a male eagle flying over the nest where a female and hatchling reside.

These 1.5 oz 2-Coin Proof Gold American Eagle Coin Sets come from Silver.com with a United States Mint box and included Certificate of Authenticity. Your coin sets are chosen at random when you purchase and you could receive several sets with the same date marks when buying more than one.
