The coins of the lira denomination were issued by Sardinia and the Kingdom of Italy. Sardinia was the first to issue the coins starting in 1816. When King Victor Emmanuel II of Sardinia became the King of Italy when the unified Kingdom of Italy was formed in 1861, the Sardinian lira became the Italian lira for the unified kingdom. King Victor Emmanuel I of Sardinia was the first issue coins of the Sardinian lira in 1816. His initial release consisted of a 5 lire coin with silver content and 20 lire coin with gold content. Just before abdicating the throne in 1821, he introduced a new 80 lire coin with gold content.
His successor was Charles Felix. As King Charles Felix of Sardinia, he would continue the production of the 20 and 80 lire gold coins, while also introducing the 40 lire gold coin. These coins would be issued by the Kingdom of Sardinia until 1861 when it was absorbed into the unified Kingdom of Italy under the control of the Sardinian king at the time, King Victor Emmanuel II, a man who went on to rule as King of Italy.
The obverse side of 1826 80 Lire Gold Italian Sardinian Coins features a depiction of King Charles Felix. His left-profile effigy comes with no crown in the design and with inscriptions around the field identifying his name and title.
On the reverse of 1826 80 Lire Gold Italian Sardinian Coins is an image of the Royal Arms of the Kingdom of Sardinia. This design includes a spade shield that bears the coat of arms of Savoy, along with an imperial crown atop the shield and a wreath around the design.

Coins in About Uncirculated 50, or better, condition showcase only light or trace wear on the highest relief points with medium or near-full luster.
