The Capped Bust design replaced the Draped Bust motif and appeared on U.S. silver coins from 1807 to 1839, introducing a fresh era of American coin artistry. Designed by John Reich, an assistant engraver from Germany, the image features Liberty in a soft cap. Today, 1829 Capped Bust Dimes in certified condition are available from Silver.com.

Coin Highlights:

  • Comes with a protective plastic slab!
  • 21st date for the Capped Bust Dime!
  • Consists of .0774 troy ounce of actual silver content.
  • The face value of $.10 (USD) is backed by the US government.
  • Graded About Uncirculated 58 by the Professional Coin Grading Service.
  • Obverse features the Capped Bust Liberty effigy.
  • Reverse includes the heraldic eagle.

The Capped Bust style was used across a variety of U.S. denominations, including half dimes, dimes, quarters, and half dollars, as well as briefly on gold half eagles and eagles. Reich’s work offered more sculptural depth than the flat designs of earlier issues. Over time, the Capped Bust series received small adjustments, including star placement changes and updates to the reverse eagle’s features.

All 1829 Capped Bust Dimes in this listing are graded About Uncirculated 58. These AU58 coins show only light friction on the highest design areas and maintain much of their original brilliance. Their slight wear makes them appealing to collectors looking for coins that closely resemble uncirculated examples.

Obverse details on 1829 Capped Bust Dimes display Liberty facing left, wearing a Phrygian cap, often referred to as a Liberty cap. The portrait, designed by John Reich and engraved by William Kneass, features soft curls tied behind Liberty’s head.

Reverse imagery shows the U.S. heraldic eagle with outspread wings, holding arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other. The eagle faces right (coin left) and rests before the national shield, representing both peace and defense.

We use a live, up-to-the-second spot price feed supplied by Xignite.com, a worldwide leader in the data supply market.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase. Credit/debit card, PayPal, BitCoin, Ethereum, and Ripple orders are paid at the time of checkout, while paper check and bank wire orders require a credit/debit card on file to lock in your pricing while we await your payment. Please note, paper check and bank wire orders will NOT result in a charge to your card - we simple maintain the card on file while we await full payment by your selected payment method.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only ship to addresses in the United States, including APOs.
