If you’re interested in building a bullion investment portfolio, one unusual but very viable option is to seek out “cull” coins. These are low-grade coins typically supplied from the secondary market that may show extensive wear or damage, but that is nevertheless still valuable for the market price of their constituent precious metals. This can be an attractive way into the market for investors seeking budget-friendly options, and the silver “Morgan dollar” coin provides some useful examples. Although these coins are relatively abundant in uncirculated grades thanks to historic hoard discoveries in the 20th century, they were previously more common in grades that showed heavy circulation wear or damage, and such coins with the Carson City mint mark can provide an excellent starting point for bullion investment. These 1878-1893 CC Morgan Silver Coins are available to you from the team at Silver.com.

Coin Highlights:

  • Delivered in a flip-top plastic container!
  • Struck in a range of dates by the Carson City Mint!
  • Contains 0.7734 Troy oz of Silver, comprised of 90% silver and 10% copper.
  • Face value of one dollar issued by the United States government.
  • Obverse side features Lady Liberty.
  • Reverse side features a heraldic eagle.

The 1878-1893 CC Silver Morgan Dollar Coin is available in low-grade “cull coin” format in a range of dates from 1878 to 1885, and from 1889 to 1893. The specific dates that come with an order depend on our current inventory. We ship these coins fully insured in a plastic flip-top container.

Cull coins may exhibit a wide range of potential flaws or types of damage, ranging from heavy circulation wear, scratches, and dents to bending and even holes. Still, the notable size of the silver “Morgan dollar” means that cull coins are still a substantial and valuable source of precious metals, available at a much lower premium than more conventionally attractive collectibles. Whatever their visual flaws, the silver contents of these items are still guaranteed.

Each coin’s obverse field shows an effigy of Lady Liberty along with the lettering “E PLURIBUS UNUM” and the year of issue. The reverse field shows a heraldic eagle, the “CC” mint mark, and the coin’s face value.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase. Credit/debit card, PayPal, BitCoin, Ethereum, and Ripple orders are paid at the time of checkout, while paper check and bank wire orders require a credit/debit card on file to lock in your pricing while we await your payment. Please note, paper check and bank wire orders will NOT result in a charge to your card - we simple maintain the card on file while we await full payment by your selected payment method.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only ship to addresses in the United States, including APOs.
