The Carson City Mint produced Silver Morgan Dollar coins from 1878 to 1885 and 1889 to 1893. After that, production ceased on all coins at the mint, and the location closed its doors for good in 1899. Due to limited availability and the mint’s iconic location in the heart of the American Old West, Carson City Morgan dollars remain in high demand to this day. Now, 1881-CC Silver Morgan Dollar Coins are available to you for purchase online at Silver.com.

Each of these 1881-CC Morgan Dollar Coins will arrive to you protected in a plastic slab. These highly durable cases are perfect for storage and display purposes. They also include a label above the coin stating the official grade and the minting location. Struck from genuine silver mined at Comstock Lode, these coins are perfect for anyone with a deep appreciation for the rich minting history of United States coinage.

Despite showing much promise early on, the Carson City Mint struggled during its brief existence to create a consistent output of coins. Part of this was due to various political struggles, but ultimately the mint failed because mining at Comstock Lode had largely ceased by 1893. And yet the limited supply of Carson City coins compared to other minting sites has created a mystique around this location. It is the mint that disappeared, fading into the dust like the Old West itself.

Lady Liberty is featured on the obverse of these 1881-CC Silver Morgan Dollars. Liberty faces left in this design, which famously is modeled after the face of a teacher and writer from Philadelphia named Anna Willess Williams. You will also see in Liberty’s hair a Phrygian cap and a crown of cotton and wheat. The words E Pluribus Unum and the year of release are also shown on the obverse field.

The heraldic eagle is found on the reverse face of 1881-CC Silver Morgan Dollar Silver Coins. This design is similar to other heraldic eagle designs on American coins except that it is missing the national shield that usually sits on the bird’s chest. However, it does include the iconic olive branch and arrows in the talons. Inscriptions are included on the reverse that read United States of America, In God We Trust, One Dollar. The CC mintmark is also shown on the reverse.

Where does your spot price come from?

We use a live, up-to-the-second spot price feed supplied by Xignite.com, a worldwide leader in the data supply market.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase. Credit/debit card, PayPal, BitCoin, Ethereum, and Ripple orders are paid at the time of checkout, while paper check and bank wire orders require a credit/debit card on file to lock in your pricing while we await your payment. Please note, paper check and bank wire orders will NOT result in a charge to your card - we simple maintain the card on file while we await full payment by your selected payment method.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only ship to addresses in the United States, including APOs.
