One of the most significant coin programs from the US Mint that the San Francisco branch contributed to was the Silver Morgan Dollar. Now, 1881-S Silver Morgan Dollars are available to you for purchase online at Silver.com in certified condition.

Introduced in 1878, Silver Morgan Dollars were produced annually through 1904 and one final time in 1921. The Philadelphia Mint and the San Francisco Mint were the only operational mints that were available during each of the date marks in this series, and as such, the only ones to issue the coins each year the US Mint produced Morgan Dollars.

The San Francisco Mint has survived several significant earthquakes, including the devastating 1906 earthquake and fire that destroyed much of San Francisco. Despite the widespread destruction, the mint building remained mostly unharmed and continued to operate, playing a crucial role in the city’s recovery by producing new currency.

The 1881 Silver Morgan Dollars feature George T. Morgan’s left-facing depiction of Liberty on the front. This portrayal showcases Liberty wearing a coronet and laurel wreath crowns on her head, surrounded by a circle of 13 stars encircling the design field.

The reverse of the 1881-S Morgan Dollar displays George T. Morgan’s interpretation of the heraldic eagle. Unlike other designs, this version does not feature a US national shield; however, it does incorporate other common elements such as the arrows symbolizing war and the olive branch symbolizing peace.

These 1881-S Silver Morgan Dollars have MS64 certifications. Each coin has average mint luster for its date, as well as the possibility of small clusters of contact marks, one or two heavier marks, and one or two small patches of hairlines.

Where does your spot price come from?

We use a live, up-to-the-second spot price feed supplied by Xignite.com, a worldwide leader in the data supply market.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase. Credit/debit card, PayPal, BitCoin, Ethereum, and Ripple orders are paid at the time of checkout, while paper check and bank wire orders require a credit/debit card on file to lock in your pricing while we await your payment. Please note, paper check and bank wire orders will NOT result in a charge to your card - we simple maintain the card on file while we await full payment by your selected payment method.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only ship to addresses in the United States, including APOs.
