The original GSA holders for Carson City Morgan Silver Dollars are so popular that NGC modified their packaging approach for these historic pieces. Rather than placing the coins in the traditional slab, NGC retained the original GSA case and applied a unique label across it to confirm its official certification. Right now, 1884-CC Morgan Silver Dollar Coins in Certified Condition are available to purchase online at Silver.com.

Coin Highlights:

  • Includes the original GSA protective case!
  • Unique Morgan dollar from the GSA hoard!
  • Availability of certified coins is limited!
  • Consists of .77344 Troy ounces of actual silver content.
  • Bears a face value of One Dollar backed by the United States.
  • Graded Mint State 65+ by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation.
  • The obverse field contains a Lady Liberty effigy.
  • On the reverse side of the coin is a heraldic eagle rendition.
  • Carson City mintmark included.

All 1884-CC Morgan Dollar Coins in this online listing have received a grade of MS65+ from the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation. As such, their condition could be slightly superior to a standard MS65-graded coin. Also of note is that these coins will not arrive in the traditional NGC protective slab. Instead, they are preserved within their original GSA holders with the NGC label applied to the lower portion of the case. This label includes the basic details about the coin as well as the fact that it comes from the GSA hoard.

In the 1960s, roughly three million silver dollars were discovered in old US Treasury vaults. Of these, 2.9 million were from Carson City, with the remaining consisting of Peace Dollars and Morgans produced at other mint locations. The General Services Administration was tasked with sorting through these coins, with the finest being placed in special collector’s cases. Then on October 31st, 1972, the sale of these coins to the public began with an initial minimum bid set at $30 apiece.

Lady Liberty is featured on the obverse of 1884-CC Morgan Dollars. This left-profile effigy was created by George T. Morgan and is considered one of the finest designs in the history of American coinage. Other design elements include a row of thirteen stars along the lower rim and inscriptions that read E Pluribus Unum, 1884.

A heraldic eagle design can be found on the reverse of these Morgan Silver Dollar Coins. In this image also designed by Morgan, we see the eagle with its wings spread wide as it holds arrows and an olive branch in its talons. Just below the eagle and a pair of laurels, we find the Carson City mintmark. There are also inscriptions reading United States of America, One Dollar, and In God We Trust.

We use a live, up-to-the-second spot price feed supplied by Xignite.com, a worldwide leader in the data supply market.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase. Credit/debit card, PayPal, BitCoin, Ethereum, and Ripple orders are paid at the time of checkout, while paper check and bank wire orders require a credit/debit card on file to lock in your pricing while we await your payment. Please note, paper check and bank wire orders will NOT result in a charge to your card - we simple maintain the card on file while we await full payment by your selected payment method.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only ship to addresses in the United States, including APOs.
