The Silver Morgan Dollars are some of the most collectible coins the United States Mint ever produced. Originally issued as circulation silver dollars, the 21st century continues to see immense demand for the coins of the Silver Morgan Dollar Series. Few, if any, are as popular as the Carson City Mint Morgan Dollars. Today, 1885-CC Silver Morgan Dollars are available to you online at Silver.com in certified condition.

In 1870, the US Mint opened a new branch mint in Carson City, Nevada. The mint was opened here to take advantage of local silver deposits discovered in the American West starting in the 1860 and 1870s. The Carson City Mint would go on to operate from 1870 to 1885, pause its production for three years, and return to coining from 1889 to 1893 when it finally closed for good.

All of these 1885-CC Silver Morgan Dollars are available to purchase in MS64 condition. Coins of this grade have an average mint luster with the potential for various small contact marks and one or two heavier marks. It is also possible to notice small patches of hairlines on the surface of the coins.

On the obverse side of the 1885-CC Silver Morgan, you will find the portrait of Lady Liberty. This left-profile relief was created in 1878 by George T. Morgan for the relaunch of US silver dollars and shows Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap, coronet crown, and a laurel wreath. The field includes 13 stars and a date mark.

The reverse field of 1885-CC Silver Morgan Dollars comes with a depiction of the heraldic eagle of the United States. Also designed by Morgan, this image shows the bald eagle in front-facing relief with its wings spread as its talons clutch the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace.
