There are few coins on the collectors’ market more iconic than the Silver Morgan Dollar. Originally minted between the years 1878 and 1904, it became closely identified with the frontiers of the “Wild West,” its silver content and substantial size making it a popular coin with the outlaws, prospectors and pioneers there. In subsequent decades, various issues of this coin grew extremely rare as the wear of circulation led to damage or they were melted down for their precious silver. Some of the rarest specimens to find in uncirculated quality came from the Philadelphia Mint in 1886, and have an estimated surviving supply of just a few thousand coins. The team at Silver.com is delighted to offer the 1886 Silver Morgan Dollar Coin for online purchase.

Coin Highlights:

  • Comes in a tamper-proof protective plastic slab with a label that confirms its PCGS certified grade, Mint State 63!
  • Struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 1886!
  • Limited availability from a very small survival estimate of 19,000 pieces!
  • Contains 0.7734 Troy oz of Silver, and is comprised of 90% silver and 10% copper.
  • Carries a face value of $1 issued by the United States government.
  • The obverse side features a profile effigy of Lady Liberty.
  • The reverse side features a heraldic eagle.

The 1886 Silver Morgan Dollar Coin is available to you with a certified grade of Mint State 63, which means an average strike with moderate marks or hairline scratches. It ships with a label confirming that grade inside a secure plastic slab, and each shipment is fully secured by Silver.com against even the most remote chance of mishap in transit.

The world-renowned coin grading service PCGS provided this coin’s certification. Founded in 1986, PCGS has been setting the industry standard for assessing rare coins ever since, and its grades are trusted by international dealers. The company also helped to champion tamper-proof packaging of the kind this coin ships in, and uses multiple metrics to provide survival estimates of certain kinds of coins. According to those estimates, there are only a few thousand surviving uncirculated Morgan Silver Dollars from the 1886 striking at the Philadelphia Mint, making these coins a rare and valuable investment.

The obverse side of this coin features an effigy of Lady Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap. The image is accompanied by the lettering “E PLURIBUS UNUM” and “1886,” along with thirteen decorative stars at the rim to represent each of the Union’s founding states.

A heraldic eagle clutching a bundle of arrows and an olive branch appears on the reverse. It is accompanied by the lettering “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “ONE DOLLAR,” and “IN GOD WE TRUST.”

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase. Credit/debit card, PayPal, BitCoin, Ethereum, and Ripple orders are paid at the time of checkout, while paper check and bank wire orders require a credit/debit card on file to lock in your pricing while we await your payment. Please note, paper check and bank wire orders will NOT result in a charge to your card - we simple maintain the card on file while we await full payment by your selected payment method.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only ship to addresses in the United States, including APOs.
